Redchurch Street Staircase

This elegant timber staircase has been formed in each of three new houses formed as part of the overall project.

The folded form for the stair is achieved using unstained spruce tri-ply.

Multiple sheets of ply help to provide strength and allow connections to be concealed.

A number of models of the stair were built by the architect and these were used to explore its behaviour.

The stair makes use of the corner section into which it sits to provide support.
